Burlap Love - No Sew Pouch

Hello All,

Carrying forward my love for burlap, I am sharing a burlap pouch that I had been wanting to create for quite some time. This pouch is simple, pretty and can be used in so many ways - use it as a clutch to match that favourite party dress, as a money pouch or as a mobile slip case -  you are sure to make a style statement.

For the front, I used the Prima texture paste (Paltinum crackle) and the Itsy Bitsy Irregular Dots stencils to create interest. I used sepia coloured crystals on both sides of the pouch that were sealed using a hot glue gun. The single rose on the right hand side is handmade. The leaves are embossed with gold embossing powder- love they way light is reflected from them.

I wanted to add some chic to the pouch so added a piece of lace on the back side. I have used velcro in the centre as closure for the pouch. Last but not the least, I decorated the flap with rows of crystal and some flat base pearls and VOILA!....I was ready to flaunt my glitzy dazzling pouch :).

This is all for this post. Do share your views below and link to similar creations that you would crafted using burlap.

I would like to take this pouch to the Anything Goes using the Itsy Bitsy STENCILS challenge.

I will be back soon to share some more handcrafted goodness.

Until then.....happy crafting!!

Burlap Love - Home Decor Wall Clock

Hello Crafting Peeps,

I am going to make this much awaited end of the week even more fun filled for you all craft lovers out there.

Welcome to my first crafting blog!

To say that I have been crafting for the last one and half years would be untrue as I used to create handmade cards, gift articles and other decorative items even as a 5 year old kid. But the bewildering array of both affordable and easily accessible crafting supplies has opened a whole new world of possibilities for people like me who find crafting therapeutic :).

I am looking forward to using this platform to share my handmade creations and also to get inspired by your valuable feedback.

Let's get the creative juices flowing!

For today's post, I am sharing with you this home decor item - a wall clock made of one of the most loved crafting fabric Burlap.

Home decor wall clock made using burlap

I started by adhering 2 pieces of A4 sheets of burlap to create the background on a 12X12 canvas . Thereafter, I used irregular dots and script stencils to create some texture.

I used flower dies to cut burlap the sheets and then created burlap roses using a hot glue gun. For the white flowers, i stamped on white card stock and used a flower die to cut the flowers, embossed them and used a single pollen and glitter as flower centre. I have layered tow flowers to give a fuller look and distressed the edges with Tea Dye distress ink.

The filler flowers and leaves have been die cut using card stock stained with tea leaves.

The clock as the focal point of the canvas has been embossed using white shabby chic embossing powder. The word 'Happiness' has been given the same treatment. I have used gesso on the resin embellishment and distressed using tea dye distress ink.

The burlap butterflies add to the overall rustic charm of the piece. Here are a few more close up shots for your viewing pleasure.
